BOTIQUIN
DEVELOPED FOR FUNDACION TITO
TITO Foundation launched a contest to create an innovative first-aid kit that focused on a sport. The winner of each sport would have a small production to be distributed to athletes in Valle de Bravo.
The first phase of the project consisted of research on the specific medical needs of water sports to establish the size of the container. The case had to resemble a medical capsule so anyone could easily recognize it. After several sketch iterations, 3D models and renderings the production of the prototype began.
The shell was a real challenge; because of the particularities of size and shape it was rejected by more than 6 thermoforming workshops. After 4 molds that broke (wood, MDF, resin), finally it settled for one of gypsum that could withstand the heat of the process hundreds of times. Overcoming this design phase was extremely satisfying.
The capsule is sealed with a custom made rubber so that it resists being submerged for small periods of time and also float, the inside consists of a roll of cloth that organizes all medical accessories.

The project was selected winner of its category.
